Back to SB

Hi again - I hope you are doing well.

Both this week and this weekend were far too hectic
for me to find time to share what Java and I were up
to last weekend. However, given that I have a bit of
time now, here goes...

Last weekend the weather could not have been better
for spending time outdoors, the air was perfectly
clear - No haze whatsoever. The temperatures were in
the high 60's, and there was a slight onshore breeze.
Given the almost perfect conditions we spent our time
at the beach and in the Santa Ynez Mountains, near
Santa Barbara.

Although the Channel Islands are a considerable
distance offshore (11 - 25 miles) they seems close
enough to swim to. This was particularly true of the
hike we took along the beach in Carpinteria. There we
encountered refreshing sea breezes, the warmth of
sun-rays reflecting of the water, and the energizing
sounds of waves crashing on the beach - It was great.

After spending time at the beach the mountains were
calling too strongly to ignore, and of course we had
to oblige. We set off on the McNemeny Trail. The
trail is located just north of Montecito and and east
of Santa Barbara. The trail consists of a path inside
a shaded canyon, in which is found a creek, oaks vines
and many other trees. The Elevation Gain was modest
at only 1100 ft, as was the distance at just under six
miles. But even with the moderate ambition of the Day
hike it provided some amazing views thanks to the
excellent weather.

Although there is much to share about this past
weekend, it will have to wait for another time. I'm
glad to be alive! are you?

-Manny
